Introduction
Our Organization has been working from the past years and through their awareness program, people become more conscious about their rights.
World Environment Day
On 5th June, we celebrate Environment Day with our local people where some villagers attended this program. During this period, as Summer Vacation was going on, some upper class students also attended this program. All people and children went to the nearby farmhouses to dig land and plant saplings & seeds. That day, we decided that we should live in a pollution free area and must keep World free of pollution. There were 50 saplings planted in the ground. In this program, our President Mr. Kumar took part and discussed the importance of plants and prevention of burning plastic and rubber tyres.
Science Exhibition
A science exhibition was held on 3rd of April, 2019 wherein students showcased their static and working models which can be used for learning various scientific concepts for children of the age group of 13-18 years. The objective was not only to inculcate a scientific attitude and research-mindedness but also creating teaching aids. It involves students to participate in activities so as to understand the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects of the task. This school organized a science exhibition on the 3rd April, 2019 where students showcased their talents on creativity and innovation. The science exhibition is held as a part of the National Science Day celebration carried out at School of Education.
Students had made different models and teachers helped them to present their topics. Mr. Parveen Kamboj took the initiative of encouraging the students to put up such a wonderful and enlightening exhibition. The judges also appreciated students and asked them a few questions forming the foundation of the models.
Beti Bachao – Beti Padhao
Our school organized a program on Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign; there were a string of activities such as Speech competition, Poster Making Competition, Rallies, Essay Writing Competition etc. The Mayor of the city, Mr. Karan Dev Kamboj was the chief guest of the program. The main objective was to create awareness among the people about the importance of education for girl children. The bigger objective was to discourage them against the female foeticide, a cancer for the society. There was a huge enthusiasm among the teachers and the students for the programs. A Speech competition was held in the school auditorium and the medium was both Hindi and English. The speakers highlighted the
achievements of the daughters of the country which they had obtained in various fields. They mentioned the names of Rani laxmi bai, Sunita Williams, Kalpana Chawla, Sakshi Malik, PT Usha, Indira Gandhi, etc. Their speeches instilled the girl-students with pride and courage. Then there were poster-making and essay-writing competitions through which students expressed their views. Everybody appreciated them and at the end, the students also took part in racing and dancing. Everyone who was present there took the oath of Saving And Educating Girls.
Youth Development Program
Youth Development Program has been the priority of the organization, through this we motivate the youth for self-employment as well as the government, quasi-governmental and nongovernmental organizations try to awaken the youth for self-employment training. Over 100 children learned critical safety skills through swim lessons. Additionally, AJWS provided water safety programs including swimming and other community outreach initiatives. Day camp helps all youth to feel like they belong to the same group, encourage them to try new things, to make new friends and have the best summer ever. Last summer, over 150 kids had fun exploring and learning in weeks of summer day camp at GEWS and regional outdoor
camps. Over 5200 youth developed and improved skills and character values through youth sports programs like basketball, soccer, hockey, cricket and kabaddi. Teans also learned leadership skills through participating in volunteer projects, helping to raise mo9ney to support the annual campaign and participating in activities performed in Amar jyoti Sr. Sec. School.
Art & Craft Exhibition
AJWS was abuzz with excitement and fervour on the 25th April, 2019 as it was the day of their Art & Craft Exhibition, ‘Atrangi Khawab Mere Satrangi Duniya Teri.’ The objective of the exhibition is to bring forth the innate skills and hone the creative genius of the students. It provided the right platform for the primary wing students to display the varied and beautiful articles prepared by them throughout this academic year. There were corners in the exhibition attributed to art, jewellery, painting, best out of waste, paper machines, paper lanterns, and many more. The parents appreciated the efforts of the students and their supportive teachers to put up an amazing array of artifacts. With an endeavour to promote
scientific attitude among the young students, this exhibition was one of its kind. The DIrector of the school, Parveen Kamboj applauded the students for their innovative and novel ideas and emphasized that Science has always been the solution to end all problems and it remains as a tool for us to achieve the dream of leading the world as a superpower. He encouraged and appreciated all the participants for working diligently in preparing for this mega event.
Annual Function
Amar Jyoti Sr. Sec. School Kalri Jagir celebrated its annual function on 10th February 2019 with a tremendous celebration including a series of cultural programs prepared with exceptional effort and perfection. The function began with the inauguration of the newly renovated library by the Director. The theme of the function was ‘Umang: The Colors of Life’. Various items presented with different colors of life through magnificent sequences of audio-visual delight. The items include dramas, dance dramas, musical representations and dance. Alongside these outstanding creative presentations, Director Parveen Kamboj presented the School accolades and shared with the audience the information about various fronts at which the school has performed remarkably well over the session. At last
the prize distribution ceremony was held to acknowledge the aachievement of the outstanding students who performed well enough to arise as toppers in various competitions held at state, district and inter-school levels.
Health & Wellness Fair
Hosting a health and wellness fair at school is a great way to share information with students, staff, families and the community about healthy eating, physical activity, health services, and other local health and wellness resources. It is also an opportunity to build relationships with local and community organizations, who may be able to provide ongoing support to your school health initiatives. This fair was organized for the parents in which the students threw light on various health related topics such as First Aids, Value of Herbs, Harms of smoking & alcohol, value of yoga & morning walk, etc.
Greetings to Great Men
As a part of 94th Birth Anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a campaign was taken on single use plastic ban awareness. The aim of the campaign is to create awareness among the residents of the campus and not to use plastic items after one time. In this series of activities, a poster was developed on single use plastic ban and distributed among the residents, outside workers and pedestrians. The plastic waste was collected and was shifted to the assigned place for safe disposal and also requested everyone to ban using plastics.
Scholarship For Financially Weak Students
Our society helps the poor candidate by providing them scholarship for their studies and helping them for a better future. Amar Jyoti Welfare Society encourages the candidates participating in seminars, workshops and other curriculum activities by distributing certificates.
